Voice recognition is quickly developing itself into a promising new technology in logistics. Vanboxtel has already gained experience with voice in several projects. For example at Albert Heijn and Coldstar,  warehouses and DC's are working with our Voice picking solution.

Paperless picking with RF

Paperless picking can be supported by an RF-terminal. When using an RF-terminal both hands and eyes of the employee are not fully available for labour all the time. The terminal must be held for reading and processing of commands. At these moments the employee has to keep his eyes fixed to the screen. This has some disadvantages:

• The employee has to lay the terminal aside if he needs both hands to carry out his work. This takes extra time and increases the chance of damage occurring to the terminal.
• The employee needs to divide his attention between the screen of the terminal and his actual work. This also takes extra time.
• The terminals do not work well in some environments, such as refrigerated warehouses.

This is why Vanboxtel offers an alternative method of paperless picking which does not have the disadvantages as mentioned above: voice picking.

Handsfree

The Voice picking module transfers picking assignments to the order picker through a headset linked to a terminal carried on the body. He or she can confirm these commands by means of spoken commands.

The terminal is carried on the body which leaves both hands free to use. Because the employee does not have to look at a screen he is able to concentrate on its work: the picking itself.

Voice picking makes paperless picking in refrigerated warehouses perfectly possible.

Unaffected by accents

Not every person has the same way of speaking. This could be a problem when using voice recognition. Therefore, users of our system need to conduct an initial training in order to make the system familiar with their way of speaking. The advantage of this procedure is that the voice recognition isn't affected by accents. 

Our voice recognition system is available in several different languages. 

Flexible solution

Our voice picking solution offers a flexible soluton for directing picking. The voice recognition module is not dependent on specific terminals. This means a terminal can be used for other non-voice related activities as well.

The voice recognition module also isn't limited to use with the WMS of Vanboxtel. Combining it with other systems or software packages is perfectly possible.
