Multi Bier – From paper sheets to a professional WMS
From piles of pick lists and Excel sheets to a smoothly organized warehouse. With thousands of types of beer and packaging materials, keeping track had become too dependent on the knowledge of just a few experts. And as volumes grew, moving to a WMS had become an essential move. Since May 2025, Multi Bier’s operation has been fully running on the Vanboxtel WMS. With visible results.
When Sjaak Wolfs joined Multi Bier as operations manager at the end of 2022, he immediately saw room for improvement. “Orders were still being processed with paper pick lists, replenishment was done by gut feeling, and we didn’t always know what was in stock or what the expiration dates were. That just doesn’t work with 3,800 types of beer.” The goal was clear: greater insight and a modern, reliable way of working.
The right match with Vanboxtel
While searching for a WMS, Multi Bier met with several providers. The deciding factor was the cultural fit, says Sjaak: “No-nonsense, deliver on your promises, and get results at the end of the day. That’s who we are. During the presentations we saw the system had huge potential, and the cooperation felt right.” By October 2023, the choice for Vanboxtel was final.
Working together
Implementation started in April 2024. Vanboxtel connected the WMS to the ERP system Douano and introduced hardware such as handheld terminals on the floor. Sjaak involved his team of supervisors and key users from day one: “They’re the ones who have to work with it, so they also had to help make the decisions. That created real buy-in.”
Project manager Ties Vlassak worked closely with the team. Together they set up the data, tested the processes, and trained employees step by step to use the system. “We had a lot of laughs and worked incredibly hard”, says Sjaak. “And to be honest, the transition from paper to scanners actually went very smoothly.”
Instant results
The move paid off right away. Order picking performance rose by more than 10% and the number of errors dropped. Multi Bier also uses the WMS for its Value Added Logistics. Inventory accuracy increased from 91% to 96–97.5%. “That means our sales department can sell what’s really available, not what we think is available”, Sjaak explains. On top of that, operations now require fewer hours.
Future-proof
Sjaak describes the cooperation with Vanboxtel as informal yet professional: “A deal is a deal, but there’s also room for a laugh. That makes working together enjoyable. I look back on the implementation with a lot of satisfaction.” Today, Multi Bier is using the WMS to its full potential and plans to keep optimizing with new features and training.
