Update for systems and equipment and 24/7 support
Swimming ponds, swimming pools, (koi) ponds, irrigation systems and plastic ducts. When you order any of these products from producer and distributor SIBO Fluidra in Veghel, all components and tools are shipped that same day from a single distribution centre. SIBO brought in Vanboxtel to update its automation to ensure its processes continue to be optimally efficient in the future.
An entirely new setup
What SIBO wanted most of all was structure, both in terms of the design of its infrastructure and with regard to the physical computer spaces. SIBO also wished for its IT environment to be managed and kept up to date. Vanboxtel replaced the traditional PCs with server-based computing in combination with thin-client workstations. We also installed virtual servers based on the latest Windows and Linux operating systems and replaced the one-gigabyte network with new, faster switches and a ten-gigabyte network. It is not advisable to develop, test and implement a project of this magnitude all at once. We therefore divided the project into eight implementation phases, which were all successful.
Continuity and security safeguarded
The server-based computing in SIBO’s environment facilitates central management by Vanboxtel. In addition to providing 24/7 support, we also take care of periodical maintenance and updates. We do so both remotely from Boekel and on site at the client’s location. Among other things, we automatically conduct security updates. Vanboxtel is SIBO’s single contact point for everything to do with its software and hardware. “The continuity and security of our systems and processes are now safeguarded,” says Gerrit Roelofsen of SIBO. “The phased approach worked very well for us. We had constant overview and insight into the proceedings. As a result, our business-critical processes were never disrupted. As the project went on, I gradually began to understand why Vanboxtel opted to divide the project into phases and implement their solution one step at a time.”
